My Research Process Narrative
Why Argentina? Why Cristina Fernandez?
Considering my heritage, it is no surprise why I chose Argentina as my country. My mother is an immigrant from Argentina, and since I live with her, I feel surprisingly more connected to Argentina than I do the United States. My family in Argentina often speaks about politics and business when we visit, as one of my uncles holds a legislative position, and my maternal great grandparents founded a dairy business in Tandil. Cristina Fernandez is often made fun of by my family, and overall the city of Tandil has an underlying distaste for her. She receives many foul nicknames, and to be frank she deserves them.
Though my argument was not truly two sided, it certainly explained why some people hate her, and why I wanted to learn more about what she has done. I was interested in why people disliked her, and I was not surprised by my findings. At first I wanted to focus on Alberto Nisman's case, but as I looked further into the scandals surrounding Cristina's organization. I was expecting her crimes to fall into a particular category, but I learned that she did most everything a politician could. At that point I had to change my question to focus more on her corruption overall rather than one case. While I was researching I found that most sources that were in english had identical information, so my most reliable reduces would be the few Argentine newspapers I found.
Most of the scandals and court cases that Cristina has been involved in are still currently being investigated. I could not find many updates online, however my aunt explained how most of the people around her feel as if she was wrongly elected.
