Though it is considered a third world country, those who live in the cities of Argentina enjoy the same amenities as people in the United States. Most sources of income come from some sort of agricultural labor, or tourism. Argentine cities tend to be loud, and full of movement. People are usually dressed in business casual clothing, and always have somewhere to go. Though Argentina can be easily compared in style to the United States and other countries, the overall cost of living is significantly lower ("Live in Argentina for Its Unparalleled Culture"). People in Argentina tend to shop allot, and decorate their houses a great deal. Opulence is a great point of pride for the older families in Argentina, but considering the low cost to maintain a home or a business, it is not incredibly difficult to achieve some social standing. Overall people live relatively leisurely, though in the big cities there is still incredible competition in schools, and high end businesses.
Challenges Confronting Argentina
Many of the issues facing Argentina relate to the government and the criminal justice system. The freedoms of speech, protest, and press have constantly been limited, especially by Macri's new government. The prison system in Argentina is unkempt, overcrowded, and covers up an immense amount of mistreatment towards its prisoners. Healthcare, and insurance services often take advantage of their consumers ("Argentina"). The streets of Argentina's cities are often littered with trash, and are the homes to many stray dogs. Overall Argentina has a gilded face that is seen by its many tourists, however when looked at closely, it is apparent that like most upper class families, it hides many unspoken faults.
What Makes Argentina Beautiful
Argentina is one of the largest countries in the world, and has many different geographical regions. Argentina has a rainforest in the North, a tundra in the South, a beach on the East, mountains on the West, and throughout the middle are vast expanses of grassy hills. One of the main tourist attractions in Argentina is Iguazu falls, an enormous waterfall located on the Amazon river between Brazil and Argentina ("23 Top Tourist Attractions in Argentina"). Besides the natural wonders, many people visit Argentina for its history. Argentina is the birthplace of the Tango, a romantic high energy dance preformed most times by a young couple in a party scene. Along with Tango, Argentina is known for its Gauchos, or traditional Spanish cowboys. Though Argentina is a Spanish speaking country, it is heavily influenced by its Italian immigrants, and many Argentine customs are similar to Italian ones ("Culture of Argentina"). Tea time comes twice a day, and there is a near country wide "nap time" where everyone, including students, go home and enjoy a relaxing hour or two before heading back to work. Due to this allotted rest period, most people in Argentina are kept out later, and average meal and bed times tend to be far past those of the United States. Life in Argentina tends to be slow paced, and relaxed similarly to Italian life. Another aspect of Italy that can be seen in Argentina is the food. Food is an important part to most social events in Argentina, and most gatherings, both formal, and informal, are done in the presence of food. Most meals on most occasions are home cooked to show off the host's skills, and commitment to the event. Other meals are bought often to show the wealth or taste of the host.
